This is fucked up

if you couldn’t SEE how fucked up this is, let me put this into even more perspective for you.a male with no high school education still makes more than a female with 9th-12th grade education (no diploma).a male who is a high school graduate still makes more than a female with an associate’s degree.a male with a bachelor’s degree only makes about ~$2000 less than a female with a fucking doctorate’s degree.tell me again why feminism isn’t important.

I said I’d stop with tumblr, but this is an example of broad spectrum statistics used to prove a point.
Please remember that the changes we have made in our society in the last 10 years, and the advancements of recent times and changes in attitudes which I can be thankful to say have happened will not change what happened 20-40 years ago.
So let’s think, your working life is roughly 40-50 years. for those who entered work before prejudice about wages and promotion were combated (as they HAVE been in recent times) means that those who may have the opportunity now to progress further did not and therefore have not had the subsequent opportunities that follow on from that, that means the results will be skewed by any figure where the subject started work before more enlightened times.
Inequality is very important in our society, it should be stamped out, but just throwing statistics around because they agree with your point is not the way to get people on side. I have never met ANYONE in the UK who thinks that women and men should not be paid the same for doing the same job, I am an Equalist (Feminism infers ownership under one sex (and also surely this should also include all races, creeds and religions) and causes friction on both sides due to the minority of “extremist” views) but please do not throw about figures for the sake of it. If there isn’t as much equality as there appears to be in the workplaces and academia that I have observed in the UK in the US maybe just isn’t as “free” and “enlightened” as it claims to be, but I feel like we’ve moved past critical mass, it’ll just take time to filter upwards (though it shouldn’t, but simple human nature means it does) as those who have grown up with an equal meritocratic system (as I have) develop and enter those positions where they have the authority to ensure this is right for all people.

It’s our duty as human beings to ensure that we don’t become too militaristic or aggressive in our pursuit of ideas and beliefs. Those that disagree with common sense (Robin Thick for example or whatever his name is) are ridiculed by every intelligent person, its only the vocal minority on both sides who cause conflict. Society is in a strong position to move forwards, I’m not suggesting a wait and see attitude, but as with monetary and social inequality that I’ve seen within the mess it is only those with a chip on their shoulder that suffer because they are unwilling to forgive and forget.

It’s been a few hours, you’ve just been hanging there. You’ve been quiet, too quiet. Usually there’s music playing, or your foot steps could be heard. But today, you’re quiet. Your little sister, who doesn’t normally come to greet you because you lock yourself away, decides to see what you’re doing. She assumes you’re taking a nap, or doing some homework quietly. She runs up the stairs, eager to see, but she comes to an immediate halt. You’re not doing your homework, nor taking a nap. Your music isn’t playing and you aren’t walking around. You’re hanging there, completely still, now just like her. At this moment, her whole world shatters. Everything she has ever known, looked up to, loved, is hanging there by a thread. At this moment, her life has been changed forever. At this moment, she wishes she was hanging with you.
Before you decide to take your life, imagine who will find you. Imagine them walking into a room, and seeing you just hanging there. Whether it be your little sister, little brother, mother father, grandparents, a friend. Imagine what will happen when they find you. No, they will not say “Finally, they’re gone.” No, they will not say “I’m happy they did that.” No, they will not say “I never loved them anyways.” They will die. Their hearts will break. They will hurt, more than you ever could. They will cry, scream, and break down. They’ll believe it’s all just a dream, praying to wake up. Except, they won’t feel that for a few seconds, or a few days, not weeks, nor months. They will feel that until the day they die. Everyday will be hell. They’ll think of you ever second. They’ll hate themselves for not being able to help or save you. They’ll wish they could die too. They’ll want to give up, just to be with you. They won’t be ever be happy again. They won’t smile. They won’t go back to their daily routine. They’ll die every time they walk past your room, or see a picture of you, or think of a memory with you. They’ll think, but stay quiet. They’ll visit your grave, feeling a knife go through their chest every time. And every morning when they wake up, no matter how long it’s been, they’ll wake up to thinking they’ll see you, only to be let down once again. And every night, they will cry themselves to sleep, because even though they refuse to admit it, know you’re gone forever.
Before you decide to take your life, think of your family, burying you. Yes, your own mother and father are planning your funeral. It’s supposed to be the other way around, but it’s not. They’ll have to call the cops, sign a death certificate, pick out clothing, buy a tomb stone, a casket, pick out flower arrangements, and more; All for their child’s funeral. The morning of your funeral, everyone who loves you is wearing black. Tears are streaming down their face, while their heart is breaking. Everyone who you thought didn’t need you, or didn’t care, are waiting in line to see you. They aren’t waiting in line at a party, or a graduation, or at a wedding reception. They’re waiting to see you, hands folded, lifeless, in a casket.
Before you decide to take your life, think of everyone you will be hurting. Don’t you dare say no one, because absolutely everyone will be affected. Your grandparents, won’t have a grandchild anymore. Your parents, won’t have a child anymore. Your brother or sister, won’t have a sibling anymore. Your pet, won’t have an owner anymore. That person you sit next to in class, won’t feel your presence anymore. Your teacher, won’t have a student anymore. That time your grandparents told you no, will haunt them forever, thinking it is their fault, that you are now dead. That time your parents yelled at you, will haunt them forever, thinking if they didn’t yell at you, you would still be here. That time your sibling said they hated you, will hate themselves, because they believe you would still be alive if they said they loved you instead. Those kids who made you feel bad, will wish they were dead too, because if they just smiled at you instead, you would be here. That teacher that said you didn’t meet her expectations, will feel like a failure, because you would still be here, if she believed in you. Everyone, who has ever been in your presence, will hurt, because if they showed you they cared, you would still be here.
Before you decide to take your life, think. Don’t just think of yourself, think of the consequences for everyone else. No one’s life will be the same again. That person who God made specially for you, won’t have you. That happiness that was waiting for you, will never show again. Before you decide to take your life, realize that you may be ending your pain, but you’ll be starting a lifetime of everyone elses.

oh god I wish he had seen this that night

Quitting Tumblr.

I think it is time that I quit tumblr. At least the blogging part, I feel that it has stagnated into who can create the most gifs of a famous celebrity or who can fangirl the most about someone. What used to be a place for people to freely blog about themselves and be interested in each others lives is now a just an internal struggle for petty popularity.

I haven’t seen someone post something truly about themselves in too long and it worries me substantially. So I am going to find a new place to begin a blog and write about my life as I don’t have the urge to write in a place that does not have any interest in it.

I’ve never really kept up with the blog and its come in bits and bats and sometimes completely random, but I hope you’ve enjoyed it.

Hmmmmmm

So I had a realisation today that my little brother was becoming a spoiled brat. It’s really quite distressing and I hope this changes when he goes to high school next year but I’m not sure it will. I literally have no idea how he got this way, well that’s not entirely true, but it’s pretty disappointing.

Oh and a great moment today where my mum’s boyfriend spent a good 4 hours complaining about his stomach ache, he’s just a giant child it’s quite comical. (I may end up going to the doctors after my body decided it was going to go back to how I was when I was in the first few days in hospital, hopefully it gets better over this week otherwise I will have to sort it out on Friday as I may have stressed myself out or something/I missed one of my doses).

But on the bright side my Granma was lovely and we had a good conversation about life the world and everything. It was fantastic! :)

Even then the guys on the left are reasonably in shape and certainly don’t represent the plethora of body shapes that society deems acceptable if you’re a woman. Let’s stop pretending that body issues and societal pressure is a sex related phenomenon.

Can we just stop chasing unattainable standards in “beauty”, its time to live and love like human beings. It’s part of the reason I watch Star Trek: Enterprise, everyone they caste is pretty normal! (and Captain Archer is a personal hero! haha).
